What is Jax Arcana?
My name is Jackie, or Jax, and Arcana comes from Tarot’s Major and Minor Arcana, borrowed the latin arcanum, meaning a deep secret, mystery, or sacred knowledge.
What got you into tarot?
I have always been a student of the arcane, from being the only kid at my elementary school reading the books in the small paranormal section to collecting rocks and crystals at the Imaginarium. I have studied tarot for more than a decade, starting first as a curiosity piqued by a unique deck stumbled upon at Barnes & Noble that snowballed into a thirst for more knowledge and skill with each deck I met.
Why did you become a reader?
While working at a metaphysical store here in Los Angeles, I met a tarot reader and asked her what it meant for the same card to jump out while shuffling over and over again. She asked me which card it was and I told her, The Heirophant. She took my hands and told me that the Universe was hitting me over the head with the same request each time: take up the mantle, learn the time honored tradition, and teach those that came after me. I have met that challenge and rose to the occasion now and onward as your reader, teacher, and new favorite cartomancienne!
What exactly do you do?
In a word? Everything. I believe in not just offering simple tarot readings, but also a full scope of understanding, access, education, and accurate representation.

Media Consultations
With the increase in popularity of Tarot, it has become far more mainstream and appears in media from tourism commercials to entire films based around cartomancy, representing the craft is deeply important to those of us who practice. I am available to guide the representation in your multimedia project to accurately depict the practice, culture, and historical meanings of these cards. Your script supervisor will thank you! You wouldn’t want to be another Ryan Murphy project where the death card means everyone dies, would you?
